Cheese please (poems that is)

Cheesy Grin

They spout ‘say cheese’ to make you smile,
double e and teeth to light your dial,
but could it be thoughts of cheddar, brie and gouda
feta, edam, or maybe mozzarella,
that is causing the grins of the cheeseophiles.

  1. surly food is been omitted from the poetic too much. at least as the main subject of it.
could you please next time add some recipe?

    1. Haha – I have a great cheese chicken casserole recipe handed down from my Mum (we had it for dinner tonight) – I always like how you often include food in your poems Dhyan (cooking coffee and pasta – that line made my hungry šŸ™‚

  2. I have long, long been a fanatical cheese fan. Cheese and tomato, ham and cheese, cheese and bacon, cheese and mushrooms… the list goes on, and on… and needless to say, mostly melted!!! Yum, yum. šŸ˜†

  3. dear gabrielle,

very witty poem, yeah, i haven’t thought of cheese as topic for a poem. this poem gives me a good idea. nice sense of humour.

  4. Cheese Whiz…that gave a good smile to go with my morning coffee…I know that was particularly bad but I haven’t finished my first cup of coffee yet. šŸ˜‰

    1. Hahaha – wonderful bluebee – I visited that Trollpants blog you suggested and read his sonnet to cheese, which was hilarious, then I thought I better put the cheese where my mouth is šŸ™‚

  5. It’s the thought of eating the cheese that makes me smile. Truth be told, I would work for cheese, in particular Jarlsberg or a good crumbly vintage Cheddar. More cheese please, Louise!

    1. Haha – ‘work for cheese’ – the union would have to ensure a minimum pay scale, ensuring you a decent supply of Jarsberg and crumbly vintage cheddar Selma šŸ™‚

  6. Yeah! Fantastic. You wrote one and you’ve hopefully broken that mysterious silence. You know he would have said that in the early 1900’s or before and I still think it’s true. Starting to crumble?

  7. Just wanted to let you know that I had a bit of a cheese party tonight where everyone brought their fave cheeses. We had some delicious cheeses including a gorgeous Gruyere and a vintage cheddar so crumbly it was like cake. It was cheesetastic. But you won’t believe it – one heretic tried to sneak in a soy cheese. SOY. We nearly passed out in the three cheeses fondue.

But in spite of the henceforth unmentionable soy aberration we had an amazing time. I think I got my calcium allowance for the next 6 months. One of my friends thinks she had a cheesegasm. It was that good. I thought of you while I was munching away. Hope you are having a great weekend!

    1. A cheese party (and ring the soy police – haha) – man, am I missing out big time. Despite being a cheese addict, I have never had the full fondue experience – I will have to change this dire situation. And I know you had marshmellows too – your killing me Selma – bwahahahaha šŸ˜‰

  8. bwahahahahahaha – aloha Garbrielle – oh, yeah. very fun. funny. and to the point.

    “clink” (the sound of glass
    clinkling with liquid
    half way up the side)
    the man who was Thursday
    mentioned by the man
    who would become Monday
    on your Tuesday of course
    we return our offerings
    once of course
    we sip

    way fun Gabrielle. aloha.

      1. yeah. but we get the morning sun first. bwahahahaha.

that international date line is a lot of fun to play with and think about. if you do it right you can either have a single birthday that lasts 48 hours – or you can skip your entire birthday altogether for one year.

…and sometimes… when you’re flying… you can almost land before you take off. . .

        clinkle. bwahahaha.

…it must be that wine thing again. sheesh. aloha.
