    1. ‘Simmer first till soft in a little water, then sweeten to taste- don’t add sugar at the start or the skins will toughen. When the sugar has dissolved add an equal amount of alcohol; bottle, seal, keep in a cook dark place for up to a year. Leave at least 3 weeks before using.’recipe via Jackie French
