asd, aspergers, autism awareness, autism spectrum disorder, dont totally agree with the add but it does raise awareness and is from Australia, Global Autism Awareness Day, television advertisement for autism awareness

Note: Just for the record my son wasn’t kidnapped (who the hell wrote this ad!) but it is still good to see an Australian awareness raising campaign that goes some way to educating the broader community. I do like Steve Bisley 😉

I seem to remember that there was a theory about it being caused by the children’s injections, but this was shot down very smartly.

The experts agree there is an environmental component to the causation of autism (along with the genetic component) but are still trying to isolate the various causes – they have said vaccinations aren’t the problem, though many people disagree and there are literally thousands of court cases pending – research continues.

I really wish they would get to the bottom of it… to think that this could all be avoided – I just hope that money is not involved!

Excellent ad. I didn’t know more boys were diagnosed with it than girls. I hope there is enough funding for further research. And yeah, the kidnapped bit was slightly over the top….

Thanks Selma and yeah, it’s about 4:1 with the boys versus girls.

Powerful ad. I’m a poet mom with a child with autism, too. Here’s a link to a poem you might like. http://yourdailypoem.com/listpoem.jsp?poem_id=277
