Labradoodle!
It’s such a noodle name
for any sort of dog.
A dog that’s neither Labrador nor Poodle,

a bitser this and that, for sure.
Purists will quickly point out,
the muttiness factor of the dawg.
They hold their noses way up high

to extend their view of down,
they pontificate on colours,
size and necessary standards,
ending up with quite a frown,

but I don’t care for such things

you couldn’t get a cuter dog
then the dandy Labradoodle
(my bias is showing, I have two I call my own)
and mutts they’re not to me.

They are a woolly combination
of both silly poodleness
and labrador loyalty,

intelligence (a modicum, enough to get them by)
and sloppy, lovingness in spades,

they might not frighten burglars
or sniff out contraband
but they’ll love you as their leader
and follow your commands.

Well that’s the theory!

  2. How cute and curly are they?? It’s like they’ve had their rollers in overnight. They have really nice faces like they’d be super-friendly or would lick you to death. Awwwww.

    1. They are super friendly Selma (though Sheba is a sookylala and has been known to growl at people through her curls – but it is a ‘I’m a bit scared’ growl and then she hides behind me. Jazzy would lick an intruder to death πŸ˜‰

  3. A wonderful poem about a rather fantastic type of dog! πŸ™‚
You really made me laugh with, ‘intelligence (a modicum, enough to get them by)’ … the same could be said of my boxer bitzer Baxter … haha! πŸ™‚

Your dogs are lovely … I love the expressions on their faces, especially those of Sheba.

  4. Hey Gabrielle! I have absolutely no prejudices when it comes to dogs; if they have four legs and a tail and a wet nose, I just want to hug them! We have three cats at the moment, but are surrounded by dogs in the neighbourhood and in fact, there’s a Golden Doodle right next door! We hope one day to have a dog of our own, but we’re not wishing the end for our senior felines just yet.

    Happy to have met you!

    1. Haha – I love all dogs too (and cats) – in fact, I would have a whole farm of animals if I could πŸ˜‰ Thanks for following the link Kat – good to meet you to (anyone who loves dogs and cats is good in my book).
